Ministry Updates

Dear Friends,

As you may know, my heart is very grateful for God’s grace to allow me to invest in the lives of His dear sons through Bible studies, mentoring, conferences, discipleship, and countless conversations. The Lord has granted me favor and access through His Word, purpose, and plan for my life. In addition to that, I get the privilege of ministry to you—God’s people. Thank you for the important sacrifice you make to this ministry and to me personally.

In my last correspondence to you, I shared my desire for your support in what may have seemed unusual to you. Many of you continue to support, encourage, and pray for me. I thank God for you, your faithfulness and friendship. As I shared in my last letter, I am asking for your support to allow me to continue the work of the ministry with stability and purpose.

Based on feedback and in-person conversations with current supporters, I have decided to open a dedicated bank account for a building fund to advance the ministry. There will be several ways to contribute to this project.

My Journey to Ukraine – July 30-August 10th

On July 30, I left in the afternoon for Ukraine. My journey took me through Austria, where I arrived Friday afternoon and received an amazing welcome at the hotel. Even along the way, there were opportunities for what I call “divine appointments”! At the gate, I met several brothers, and on the flight, I had the opportunity to sit beside another brother from Albania who currently lives in Cleveland and has been in the United States for the past eight years. What could have simply been a long flight became an incredible opportunity to be acquainted and share our stories.

The rest of the team arrived Saturday, August 1, and it was incredible to meet people from all over the world. We were a team of approximately 150 people, representing 18 countries. On Sunday, we traveled from Moldova into Ukraine.

From Monday through Friday, we worked together building homes. In just six days, we built 16 homes. Eight teams worked simultaneously in 3 different villages, while two other teams focused on evangelism and VBS-type ministry with the children.

The entire experience was incredible—not simply because of the physical work we accomplished, but because of the relationships that were formed.

I went to Ukraine with two specific objectives. First, I wanted to “adopt” as many Ukrainian brothers as I could. Because of the war, Ukrainian men are not allowed to leave the country, so I wanted to develop relationships that could continue long after I returned home. Second, I intentionally brought things with me that I wanted to leave behind with the brothers I connected with—small reminders that they were loved, remembered, and not alone.

God exceeded anything I could have imagined. On Saturday, we had a wonderful time of celebration together. Then, on Sunday morning, we began our journey back toward the border and eventually to Austria for our flights home to America.

Nevertheless, the trip did not really end when I left Ukraine. As of today, I remain in contact with six of the Ukrainian brothers. We are doing FaceTime, and phone calls. Those relationships have become one of the greatest blessings of the entire experience.

I fell in love with the Ukrainian people, their food, their culture, and especially their spirit of hospitality and fellowship. There is something incredibly humbling about being welcomed into someone’s country during such a difficult and uncertain time. It was an absolute honor to be in Ukraine, to serve alongside the Ukrainian brethren, to build homes, to share Christ and most importantly, to build relationships. I went there hoping to be a blessing. I came home realizing how much they had blessed me.

What an incredible privilege. What incredible people. Moreover, what an incredible honor to call these men my brothers.

And yes, the war continues to this moment. Please PRAY for UKRAINE!!

 

ON THE HOME FRONT:

Brethren, we are certainly blessed beyond measure. It is truly a privilege to serve the Lord and to be the difference in the lives of others. I am grateful to God for all that He has done and is doing in my life and heart. It has been about 5 weeks now since I have been back from Ukraine. I am still in the ‘process mode’ of the trip. As they constantly live in ‘alert mode’, I find myself living that very same way – in light of the souls of men. We truly have the answer / the cure! Every day, I feel like that, I am on a mission and that I have left the fast lane and jumped on the ‘faster-lane’;

I have had as many as 6 DAs in one day! Absolutely amazing! I was in the middle of running errands – I was at Walmart, heading for my last item. To my left, there was a young man; I said to him, “hey dude, what’s up? Your best days are still ahead of you son! I then grabbed him by the arm and declared the word of the Lord over his life. He then got tears in his eyes. I then prayed for him. He certainly realized that we both have been set up by God! After a couple of hugs, we were then on our way!

Once I got back home, I received this response from Zach: Thank you, so much! You have no idea how much that interaction meant to me!

A couple of days later, I was out and about, wondering if I should go sit in a parking lot for a bit, or to a gas station that has a snack area or to a coffee shop! I had about a 30-minute window of time. Therefore, I decided to go to the coffee shop. Upon entering the café, there was an elderly couple sitting in that first booth – he was a Vietnam Veteran. So I thanked for his service. Just a few more feet further, there was a young man seated in another booth. I greeted him and asked how he was doing. He said so so. Well, I stopped and began to ask a few questions; I then asked if I may sit and join him. To say the least, I did not get any further than his table. He was struggling quite a bit with the journey of life. This was a very intense time with William. We talked about meeting later that night. Before I left, he shared with me that he had been driving up and down route 39 looking for a counselor or someone that could help him. He decided to go to this coffee shop and just sit there and wait. Shortly after that, I showed up. I have since met with him a few times now. God is faithful! There are so many more. This is just a couple of the encounters / adventures with God! They are everywhere and happen every day! Go for it! The people are waiting for you! Your steps are ordered!
