“STAY FOCUSED” Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is before us. Looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith… Hew 12:1-2
Dear Friends in Christ Jesus! Great and mighty is the Lord our God, for there is none like Him! I give thanks to God for your life and testimony. Thank you for being such a blessing to so many people and to me personally. May your heart take courage today! God is faithful and He is excited about you.
The past two months have been ‘on the go, challenging, overwhelming and yet very productive’. Most of my days involved serving others: part-time chaplaincy work, jail visits, and occasionally attending funerals, discipleship /mentor ship – both in person and phone calls. Not to mention the continual flow of divine appointments. Which are usually off-the-cuff, and in the moment. Currently, as a chaplain, I am serving three different companies – hanging out in their room or patio, catching them on their 15-minute break or lunch break. Even though this is not much time with these employees, the goal is to establish relationships with them. After which, they will begin to share some of their challenges, needs and concerns. At one company, there are at least ten different countries represented, six of which are Spanish speaking. Of course, I am able to use my Spanish skills from having lived in Mexico for a season. Of course, I have the opportunity to interact with everyone, even with a few supervisors, HR personnel and lead employees. Just by our presence is huge and any encouragement that we share, they appreciate it. For many of these people, this was like a breath of fresh air. Overall, there are countless opportunities everywhere. Because of our relationship with Jesus, we are able to ‘stay the course’! We get to trust Him on a daily basis. Moreover, to see Him at work for the glory of God. We are all still learning how to work with God in the harvest fields of the souls of men!
In the midst of it all, I continue to see the goodness of the Lord in my life and ministry. He is so faithful to me and I am delighted to be in His loving care! Moreover, to be involved in His plan and purpose for humankind.
During the month of April, I had the opportunity to visit San Diego for one week. It was an amazing time indeed. I met these brothers through our Jesus Gatherings of May 2024 and the others from here in Texas that are currently living in San Diego. I thoroughly enjoyed my time hanging with the brethren. I took part in prayer meetings, Bible studies, fellowship meals, and street witnessing. My second day there, I was invited by Brother Doug (I have known him since 2010 from Texas.) to a Sabbath meal that he was hosting – Ocean Shores. I had never heard the meaning behind such a meal. The goodness of God revealed! The first of the trip I spent with Isaac (also from Texas). We first started meeting for discipleship in 2019. It was great to see him again to spend some time with him and Ashley before their wedding. (Which was to take place back in Texas.) I then spent a few days with six brothers that were sharing a house, amazing! I was introduced as “Uncle Leonard”. It was great getting to know these brothers and to spend some time with them. The fellowship, the meeting of new people and great food. This will be a very memorable trip to say the least. I attended our quarterly Jesus Gathering, which took place in Edmond, OK, just outside of Oklahoma City. There were people from several different parts of the country – from coast to coast! The presence of the Lord was rich and thick and many were set free, touched, healed and encouraged in their journey. I met some amazing people and were able to be better acquainted with the ones that I met at our last gathering. You should check out the website for the Jesus Gathering, perhaps you could join us for the next one or two! There was a brother from Michigan – Ethan, he spent a week with me and we attended the OKC Gathering as well. (We slept two nights in my tent and two nights in a homeJ. Before leaving Oklahoma, we spent a night with Martin & Kathy, whom I have known for 33 years. I hosted their Mission trip to Monterrey, Mexico in 1992. It was great to catch up on the happenings in each of our lives. The home-cooked meals were great and of course, the freshly baked pies just for me: Coconut and Lemon! J
I would appreciate your continued prayers on my behalf. For wisdom, open doors, favor and direction for the days ahead. My heart is still in the ‘fast lane’ however; my body feels the need to re-group or something. Thank you once again for your love and support. Blessings to you and your family!
